Mr. Reese, Principal, DHS

Welcome, Delta High School Community!

Students, families, and community members, we want to welcome all of
you to what promises to be an amazing 2024-2025 school year.Profile

At the end of last year, our outgoing superintendent, Mr. Streyle, shared
that Delta High School was amongst the top 15% of all schools (with an
enrollment of over 200 students) in all of Alaska. Furthermore, our
school ranked first in the state for students designated as proficient or
advanced in English/Language Arts, and third in the state for Math.

Delta Junction High School is one of the very best schools in the state of Alaska, and
I am proud to be joining the team!

One of the biggest challenges in Alaska’s public schools is staff turnover. Oftentimes, a new group joins an established team each year, and the dynamic of the team changes as a result. Oftentimes, educators and instructional leaders who are new to Alaska take a while to gain their footing.

My name is Steven Reese, and I will serve as the Delta High School principal starting in the
24-25 school year. Our district is fortunate that my predecessor at the high school will keep
his experience in the district as our new superintendent, and I will be joining an established
team that has a well-structured foundation in place.

My background in education includes instructional leadership at alternative schools,
special education schools, and even rural Alaska schools (along the mid-Kuskokwim). My
experience as an educator in Alaska will help with a seamless transition into the Delta
Junction community.

As an instructional leader, my focus will be on continuous academic improvement, but I
believe it is equally important to create a rich and memorable educational experience for
our students. Our goal at DHS is to make sure that every student is prepared for the
workforce (Employ), post-secondary education (Enroll), or enlistment in our armed
services (Enlist).

I was able to meet with the DHS staff prior to the end of the 23-24 school year, and I am
confident that I am joining a strong team with a clear vision. DHS teachers are proudly
confident of the good things happening on campus and have a strong desire to maintain an
environment of continuous improvement.

We look forward to providing our students with opportunities to find success in an
encouraging and enriching environment. We look forward to partnering with the Delta
Junction community to make the 24-25 school year a memorable one. Please contact us at
907-895-4460 if you have any questions or want more information about our programs.
